Child Safety seats are required by law and essential for a child’s safety while riding in a motor vehicle. A mother stopped for speeding in McIntosh County Georgia gave the Police Officer cause for concern as he viewed the condition of her baby son’s car safety seat. He agreed to waive the speeding ticket and requested she purchase a new car seat for her baby. Sgt. Jeremiah Jerrell’s request was met with tears from the mom as she explained she could not afford another safety seat. Sgt. Jerrell made a trip to Walmart and purchased a new car seat with his own money from the store. He presented the new car seat to the Mom the same day. The mom was grateful for Sgt. Jerrell’s gift. Parents and grandparents if you travel with a child or an infant in a car safety seat we recommend you place an adhesive label on the seat with emergency contact information. If you are ever in an accident or a health issue arises and you are unable to communicate with First Responders while your little one is with you. This will give Emergency Workers the phone number of the trusted adult you designate, health emergency information about your child and your child’s name. Fill out the Emergency Information on your cell phone and make sure you have a copy in your glove compartment in case your phone cannot be located.
